The Psalmist did not say, “Wilt thou revive me”, but, “Thou will revive me”

Brown king james bible

I believe in Psalm 138:7, the Psalmist testifies of times in his personal life when revival was needed. He also tells us the direction in which he looked: “thou”, (the Lord), and the expectation that he had, “wilt revive me”. Why should we ever think that the Lord would withhold something that is so desperately needed? Is it because we see so little revival in our days? Have the trenches of religion become so deep that scaling over the banks seems impossible? There could be many reasons for doubting that revival will come, but there is only one thing I know that will stop revival from coming.

Verse seven plainly states that our troubles are not keeping us from revival. Troubles are everywhere, and seem to be on our heels all the time. But trouble should not be permitted to stop revival, but rather promote revival. Revival is exactly what we need in troublesome times. Troubles should bring us closer to God, and being closer to Him is what revival is about.

Verse seven also states that our enemies cannot stop revival. Here again, these things should be drawing us closer to God. These things have a way of bringing us down, but it is God who has a way of bringing us up again.

If we cannot find ourselves in verses one and two of this chapter, (please read), we are in need of revival. This ought to be our passion and desire. If these things are lacking in our relationship with the Savior, who or what will we blame it on: troubles we are facing or enemies that discourage us?

Again, the Psalmist said, “Thou wilt revive me”. Only you can stop revival in your personal walk with God. Don’t let troubles or enemies become an excuse for not experiencing revival. God is willing and wanting to revive His people. I believe God is waiting for His people to cry out for revival.

Verse seven ends with the words, “and thy right hand shall save me”. Revival in a church will be the survival of a church. Choose revival!
