As a believer in Christ, is there any remembrance in the past when you were not sure what to do? There are times in our personal lives that important decisions have to be made. It may be a medical, financial, spiritual, marriage or career, etc. decision. The list could go on, but we know the decision will be life-changing in either a positive or negative way. The old saying, “Hind sight is 20/20”, holds a lot of truth, but the Bible gives believers other options.

Jehoshaphat, King of Judah, has come under the attack of three hostile kings with a multitude of soldiers (vs 1-2). Jehoshaphat could have stood and fought, or ran in fear, or relied on his faith in God. He chose the latter. He prayed, and in his prayer, he admitted as King of Judah, I don’t know what to do! Is there anything that we can take away from his experience that can apply to us? Maybe so…
He sought the Lord in vs 3. He shared his burden with people that would help him in praying (vs 4). He went to the house of the Lord in vs 5. He knew that God had all power (vs 6). You can see that he was a reader of the Word of God by his remarks in prayer in vs 7-12. He ended his prayer with the words, “our eyes are upon thee”. Jehoshaphat and the families of Judah “stood before the Lord”, in vs 13, waiting for God to direct them in this most critical time of their lives.
God did answer their prayers and showed them what they were to do (vs 14-15).
What do you do when you don’t know what to do?
Please read II Chronicles 20:1-18.
Worrying was turned into worshiping!
