“Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.”
Acts 2:24
Peter, who is preaching during Pentecost, is addressing the subject of Christ’s resurrection. Peter tells his listeners that, yes, Christ died, but it was not possible for death to hold Him down. Through the power of God, death’s chains were broken and Christ arose victoriously.
The Bible teaches us that it is appointed unto man once to die, and then the judgment. All mortals must die, and, in Christ, become immortal. Only through shedding this flesh is the believer able to receive a glorified body. One day, this last enemy, death, will be defeated, and we who are saved will be with the Lord forever. We do not need to fear death, but rather face death in light of the power of God to raise us from the dead to live forevermore. We have this hope because of our Savior’s power over death.
This power that gives us hope for the future is the same power that works in our present. His resurrection is proof of His power to save sinners. We who have believed that Christ is Savior have been delivered from darkness and are experiencing new life in Christ. As believers, it’s that same power that gets us through the struggles and pains of life. Although tempted and tried, we know to Whom we belong and press forward by faith in Him that lives forever.

One day, the bodies of the believers will be raised, and even the earth that has been cursed for 6,000 years will be brought into a liberated state that is glorious through that same power that raised our Savior from the dead.
We who have experienced the power of God working in us while in these bodies and living in this world know that we will not be disappointed when we, through the power of God, leave here and go there!
